HP Labs India celebrates 10 Years of Innovation
HP Labs celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

Since its establishment in year 2002, HP Labs India has established itself as a pioneer and leader in ICT research on topics inspired by the needs of the emerging markets. The India team has demonstrated how to simplify Web and IT experiences by developing technologies such as using pen based input for Indian scripts, an intelligent hub of the home product to bring computing onto the TV and the mobile devices, voice based IT access in local languages, use of broadcast networks for mass communications, intuitive multimodal and gestural interaction, simplified web access using Tasklets and secured print flows. The lab has won numerous national and international awards for its innovative work.
HP Labs, which is the "advance scout" within HP and looks out for opportunities beyond the current generation of products. It is an interconnected laboratory of the global network of HP laboratories and the India wind works closely with teams in Palo Alto, Bristol, Haifa, St. Petersburg, Beijing and Singapore. "We measure our success by innovating cutting-edge technologies and solutions that provide strategic business advantage and impact for our customers and the company. We are singularly focused on identifying and tapping these opportunities through world-class competences of our researchers and open innovation with external organizations," said Sudhir Dixit, Director, HP Labs India
"I want to congratulate the team in HP Labs India for celebrating 10 years of innovation. It was my pleasure to be associated with HP Labs India for the past five years during which time the team worked on a very exciting research project on "Rich Intuitive Interfaces. Many novel technologies came out of the HP Labs India team during this period, including the Vayu Internet device, novel cloud based services called Site-on-Mobile, novel gesture based interactions, gesture based keyboards. The technologies developed from HP Labs have impacted HP's printing and personal computing business groups. HP Labs has recently started to work on some really exciting projects in the emerging services areas in the areas of education and retail," added Prith Banerjee, Senior Vice President of Research and Director of HP Labs (2007 - April 2012), Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, ABB (April 2012 - present).
